If you are wondering when is the best time to come to Greece, from the point of view of things to see and do, any time of the year is the answer.The tourist season lasts from April to October, peaking in August.On the whole, the best periods to visit Greece are a week including the 25th of March, during Easter on late April, anytime during the months of May, June, July, August, September and a week including the 28th October.Consider very seriously a winter holiday in Greece, as you can enjoy the city and the countryside without the many tourists who tradiionally visit in the summer.Winter vacations in countryside for relaxing, or in Athens for shopping and sightseeing is truly wonderfull.
CLIMATE
Greece is a country blessed by the Gods. You will find the Greek climate very mild.It can get hot, however, during July, but it is bearable because the air is so dry.Usually a bad weather is a windy weather, as there are very strong winds very often, especially in the area of the Aegean and generaly the eastern part of Greece.This is actually why Greece has the clearest seas of the world.February and March are the coldest months, and August is the most windy month of the season. Extreme weather conditions do not exist in Greece, neither during winter period.
Summer temperatures hover around 80F-90F and winter ones around 50F-60F.In January, February, and March it can get a litle chilly and quite windy, but rainfall is only 15 inches a year and mostly in short showers in winter.Remember though that Greece is the country where the sun shines 300 days a year and the climate is reputed to be one of the best in the world.
WHY GREECE
To taste all kind of foods, to eat in a real Tavern, and enjoy food as you never ever did. To shop anything you might be thinking or didn't ever know could exist. To drink crystal clear water from springs, or...buy a fresh bottle of water without paying what you would in any other country were they charge you 2 or 3 euros for just simple water(!!!) , a country where you will pay less to buy the same things than in any other European country (i.e. except cars or properties!). In Greece, they won't take you a bunch of money to let you see real historical monuments, or even museums. In other countries, they grab you the money to show you just a building , or where Mr. Rudolf was going wih his girlfriend for a weekend during 1780, or to show you her bedroom or her clothes! 8.500 years of civilization will lead you between Legend and History, you will see the Acropolis, Parthenon, Ermou and Plaka district, Syntagma, Arch of Hadrian, ancient stadiums and buildings, churches, museums,and you will return back home having seen a lot more than if you traveled all other Europian countries and especially, with your money still in your pocket. 182 sites (buildings, churches, monuments, districts) are just in Athens. Consider how many in whole Greece. Should I mention nightlife? Should I mention the clearest seas in the world? Should I mention Greek's hospitality and behaviour? Where in the world you will taste better fish or lobster of the Aegean sea? You better come, and then go somewhere else to make a significant compare between Greece and any other country in Europe, or better say in the world. Greece, a land blessed by the Gods.
